6. COCHLEAR IMPLANT SURGERY

We have till date successfully performed 160 cochlear implant surgeries at our Centre since last five years without any major inta-opearative / post- operative complications. Post-operative recovery was uneventful in all cases. Post-operative rehabilitation is being given beginning with switch-on of the implant on 21st postoperative day. The presence of linguistic evolution is already evident at 6 months with progressive reduction in the spontaneous use of sign language in these children.80 to 85 % children are attending mainstream schooling at present.
